Ex-President Jonathan Not Yet Registered Party Member In His Ward – Bayelsa APC

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, has dismissed the report that former President Goodluck Jonathan has been officially registered as a member of the party in Otueke, Ogbia local government area of the state.

According to the State Welfare Secretary, Comrade Abi A. Morris, though the party was prepared and ready to register and welcome the former president into the fold of the party, he has not been officially registered as a member of the party in the state.

Also speaking, the chairman of the party in Ogbia local government area, Believe Benjamin, also denied knowledge of any registration for Jonathan in the LGA.

A report on Wednesday, attributed to the Ward 13 chairman of APC, Igori Freeman, claimed that the former president Jonathan registered with the APC few days after the 2020 governorship victory of Chief David Lyon.

Reacting to the report, Comrade Morris, who served as the ward chairman of the party during the last governorship election in the State, denied knowledge of such registration.

“He lied. Jonathan has not officially joined the APC. Where did he get the registration booklet to register Jonathan? The Ward 13 chairman should make the party the copy of Jonathan’s registration public. He is not yet a member of the party,” Morris said.

He, however, said if they insist that Jonathan had registered, it may be in Abuja but “if it is in Ogbia, and as a critical stakeholder, the materials are with me. If he has registered, I should be aware.”
