Intrigues are beginning to unfold in Kogi politics as politicians scavenge for votes ahead of the November 11th Governorship election in Kogi State.
A fortnight ago, we witnessed a series of primary elections, many of which have pending court litigations as participants felt deprived of a free, fair and transparent outing at the just concluded primary elections.
Just today, the Social Democratic Party, SDP, adopted Hon Muri Ajaka, one of the leading APC Gubernatorial aspirants who was disqualified days before the primary election.
Muri Ajaka has over the months enjoyed massive support from Kogi State citizens, especially in Kogi East, his senatorial district, and this could well mean he will slug it out with Yahaya Bello’s anointed candidate and senator Dino Melaye in November, as other candidates from the East are willing to shift grounds for Muri’s guber bid.
Erstwhile, the Igala kingdom launched a campaign for a sole candidate heading towards the November showdown and this is no doubt a big blow for APC and PDP gubernatorial candidates who should have ordinarily enjoyed votes from Igala kingdom without the emergence of Muri as SPD flag bearer.
As we speak, jubilating has erupted in Igala kingdom as citizens express readiness to key behind Hon Muri Ajaka.
