Idah, Kogi State – A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress – APC has tendered his resignation, citing irreconcilable differences and a decline in the party’s integrity. Mr. Acholo Daniel Sunday, the Youth Leader of APC’s Ichala Ward in Idah Local Government, Kogi State, officially announced his resignation on the 26th of August.
The resignation letter, addressed to the Chairman of the APC, Mr. Abu Musa, conveyed Mr. Sunday’s concerns about the party’s recent trajectory. The letter highlighted that the decision was not taken lightly and was prompted by the unfolding developments within the party, which had made it increasingly challenging for him to continue contributing positively.
At the core of Mr. Sunday’s decision lies his belief that the APC has veered away from its initial principles and has shown an alarming lack of accountability and transparency. Expressing his disillusionment, he lamented that the party’s commitment to taking Kogi State to new heights had been compromised by mismanagement and an unsettling embrace of impunity.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress. The party’s current state no longer resonates with the aspirations of our people. We have lost our way, and it is imperative that I align myself with a platform that upholds principles and a people-oriented ideology,” stated Mr. Sunday in his resignation letter.
While the exact direction of Mr. Sunday’s political future remains uncertain, he assured that he would be seeking a political platform that stands for accountability, progress, and the well-being of the populace. He also expressed gratitude to the party leaders, his colleagues, and his grassroots supporters, while holding out hope for a reunion in the future.
The resignation has sent ripples through the local political landscape, prompting discussions about the challenges facing the APC and the potential impact on upcoming elections. Notably, the letter was copied to Honorable Sule Fitiml, Councilor representing Ichala Ward, as well as the APC Chairman of Idah Local Government.
As political dynamics continue to evolve in Kogi State, Mr. Sunday’s departure from the APC marks a significant development that underscores the importance of maintaining party integrity, accountability, and adherence to the principles that underpin effective governance.
