The Edo State Government said it might be forced to close down the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) unless the Federal Government fulfills its counterpart funding of the games.

In a statement released last night on behalf of the Local Organising Committee the Project Manager, Media & Communications of Edo 2020,  Ebomhiana Musa, said it took the decision to end the games due to paucity of funds.

The statement reads: “The Local Organising Cittee, Edo2020 regrets to announce that it will end the games abruptly tomorrow, Thursday, April 8, 2021 for lack of funds. (Rising from an emergency meeting this evening, the LOC says it has to take this hard decision due to lack of funds having expended its reserves to kick start the games.

Regrettably, the FG is yet to redeem its pledge to support us as the host state financially for the cost of postponements. So, we are left with no option than to end the games at noon tomorrow.” The NSF was to be held almost a year ago but it suffered several postponements due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The NSF was officially declared open on Tuesday.

Tottenham vs Manchester United – LIVE!

Six months on from handing United their joint heaviest Premier League defeat, Spurs are now desperate to keep their top-four hopes alive.

That loss served as something as a wake-up call for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & Co., while Spurs went top of the table and now find themselves clinging on in the race for European qualification.

As United look set to finish as runners-up to champions-elect Manchester City, Jose Mourinho will know another defeat today could have severe ramifications on his side’s season and his job.

Amid another week of speculation of the future of talisman Harry Kane, Spurs have had the luxury of a full week on the training ground while United travelled to Spain to take on Granada in the Europa League.

The man was apprehended after running onto the field naked in the 10th minute

Police have confirmed that the man who ran onto the pitch during Granada’s Europa League clash with Manchester United avoided security and Covid-19 protocols by hiding under a tarp for 14 hours before kickoff.

He has since been identified as Olmo Garcia, known by locals as “The Naked Man of Granada” due to his reputation for walking through public areas without any clothes.

He made it onto the pitch from underneath a large canvas, where he was hidden,” the local police said in a statement.
“The man made it into the stadium at 7am after getting through the security perimeter located between the stadium and the Palacio de Deportes building, where it is clear he spent the next 14 hours hidden under the canvas in order to not be seen until he decided to make his move.”

After the disruption, Manchester United went on to score two goals in what was their away leg, giving the Premier League side a huge advantage heading into the second leg at Old Trafford.

The two teams will face off again in Manchester next Thursday, with Man Utd set to take on Tottenham on Sunday ahead of that Europa League quarter-final clash.
