Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman says he has been at the receiving end of verbal attacks from the #EndSARS protesters in the last few days.
The presidential media aide revealed this via a Facebook post on Thursday, October 15. The former Nigeria Guild of Editors president also lamented that there have been strident efforts to position me as an enemy of the people. Femi Adesina says #EndSARS protesters have been calling and texting him.
“Very serious efforts by mean people, who are simply out to generate hatred and animus against other people, for no other reason than luciferous and pernicious feeling of smug satisfaction.” He stated that a television interview he did in August was also edited suggesting he was condemning the #EndSARS protests.
According to him, the topic he spoke on during the interview was the protests organised by the Revolution Now group headed by media entrepreneur and activist, Omoyele Sowore. He said after the interview went viral on social media, his phone lines were bombarded with curses, expletives, and messages condemning him. He added that some others called his lines till the phone batteries went dead.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Senate has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to start implementing the demands of the #EndSARS protesters. Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, made the call and said the National Assembly would ensure that the five demands made to the executive arm of government by the protesters are implemented.
