Why Governor Yahaya Bello Want These Entities,(Senators Aidoko,Dino,Ogembe) Politically Dead
Inordinate ambition, failure to do the needful at the corridor of power, fear of defeat against 2019 general elections and later governorship election in Kogi state had been the bane of all political machinations and manipulations adopted by the state government against the three senators representing the state at the red chamber
To the governor and the government, the three musketeer senators will make his ambition to return to Lugard house unrealisable,If they are not politically ostracised owing to either their political strenght, acceptability, necessity or as the case may be in the next dispensation
The record was set recently by the mass rejection of a well funded failed recall process of the most vocal and controversial kogi west senator,Otunba Dino Melaye even while in detention.
Melaye representing the second largest constituency and most enlightened people and politically vulnerable set of electorates from lokoja/Kogi local government axis who believed in of sort, politics of sincerity of purpose, truth, inclusion and human disposition as propagated by the current senator
For Dino Melaye and his followers along with the electorates of kogi west,it is a done deal as governor Yahaya Bello remains a goner in the political calculations of the state towards 2019 elections and the November governorship election
The singular idea of wanting to kill senator Dino Melaye for speaking the truth and nothing but the truth, and the sympathy vote and mindset of the people, along with a vow from the people of his constituency from their body language not to vote candidates of APC, no matter how sellable, will be a nightmare for the current administration in Kogi
In Kogi east,Bello had displayed a lot of political wizardry towards dividing the rank and files of the political gladiators from the area, leaders and had succeeded through coercion, financial inducements, threats, lies and subtle empty promisary notes, except for the calibre of kogi east senator,Atai Aidoko Ali
For Aidoko his part has never crossed before, either officially or privately with the governor .He never met Yahaya Bello in person or had anything to do with him politically or otherwise .So, the fear of the unknown always pervades the whole scenario, except some of his kinsmen and extractions who are now top goveernment officials of the governor, especially the chief of staff,Edward Onoja/others and have formed strong opposing views against him.Alas,he was a known follower of the senator penultimate and by virtue of been from the same district of Ogugu
Having been inundated with the rugged political dossier of the senator in the last one and half decade,it became obvious and natural that returning to lugard house with Aidoko as Kogi east senator under the opposition,PDP,it will be an uphill task if not truncated
Armed with dual advantage of representing nine local government areas, the highest in the state interms of number of votes and population.Infact, statistics have always proved it right, that just three major local government areas from kogi east, will uprurn the political chances of any contestants across not minding his acceptability and accessibility as per voting strenght. That scenario, had been a source of worry to Yahaya Bello’s camp and APC
Atai Aidoko has been a child of necessity since the inception of his democratic ideas and entrance to various contests.Initially,he defeated a thorough bred, well connected and high profile lawyer who was closed to former Military President to win his maiden election to the National Assembly to the costernation of political soothsayers in 2003.Secondly,he again retain the seat by doing the unusual of silencing a prince of Ankpa kingdom, the largest local government in his federal constituency to return to the house in 2007.His decision to move to the red chamber was seen as a day dream and child’s play,he brought down a prominent senior and well connected lawyer to his political oblivion through legal technicalities. Not done with that,in 2015,he lost and returned back to senate after removing a ruling party senator and a technocrat and bundled it up by flooring his party man and former service chief to stupour. This were the political credentials Yahaya Bello is fighting day and night to dim
Part of Aidoko’s credentials is although, not generally acceptable by his people with highly volatile popularity, but he is known for once to be a pro-igala person and tribal czar who held that sentiment along in his endeavours .He had never hidden his feelings of owing his people a lot of obligation to were he is today. That alone made him a political child of neccessity and political preference to his people of kogi east
He is highly favoured to deploy unalloyed support to any genuine Igala man with impeccable character to rescue the area from the inhuman treatment of the present administration, not minding political differences, hence Bello is bent on seeing his political extinction
For senator Salaudeen Ogembe of the governors origin,it was widely believed the area will be a walk over as a sitting governor without stress, but was later discovered that, the reverse will be the case
Ogembe was celebrated as PDP senator from the central by the governor and his loyalists after removing his staunch political enemy,Senator Mohammed Ohiare,a strong supporter of late Prince Abubakar Audu
Senator Ogembe,a political maradona and genius, came from the background as local government chairman to become a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. His advantages was he is well travelled and western oriented who cannot be cowed over mere ambition
Kogi governor arrogated the victory of kogi central senator to his handiwork to nail the growing internal opposition to his leadership of the party in the state having lost the former party leaders in the state.Senator Ogembe who was subtly tactical, withdrewed having been attacked by proxy in his hometown Okene in one of his outings
Ogembe highly favoured to return to the senate because of his glaring display of political maturity, inclusiveness and thoughts from Bello’s camp of his falling prey not realisable, confrontation and affront set in to frustrate his next political moves
The senator reacted profusely by carrying out his program under serious security threat and reported the incidence to the senate that attracted wide condemnation, that drew a tin and conspicuous line of political rivalry in Kogi central
With governor Bellos maladministration, the people of kogi central prefered senator Ogembe as their governor to abrupt governor,Yahaya Bello, this was occasioned subsequently during a solidarity rally for the senator in Okene at subsequent week that closed down the ancient town to travellers for over six hours
It was the grand rally and solidarity showed by the people of Okene who obviously are the protagonist and originator of other four area councils that drew a battle line between the governor and his senator
Ogembe whose structure and stature had placed him kindergarten in the eyes of his political rivals like the governor, was known to have single handedly frustrated a political move against the former council chairman that led to the termination of the former administration under tense and unsettled internal rivalry
With the three coveted assets representing kogi at the senate, observers will not need soothsayers that the singular idea of kogi governor returning to Lugard house will be more tedious by the day, having abused providence and divine intervention that brought the present dispensation
Danger Ahead As Utomi Warns Boko Haram Can Take Over Aso Rock
Top Nigerian economist and leadership expert, Professor Pat Utomi has predicted a gloom future for Nigeria in face of the current security situation in the country.
According to Utomi, for Nigeria to really progress, criminally minded politicians will have to be eradicated from political parties while also saying if the security situation in the country doesn’t change soon, we could see a situation where Boko Haram terrorists place their flag in Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power in Abuja.
“It is very sad in many dimensions. There is the immediate dimension of the loss of life, the grave mental stress that it causes citizens, because the aspect of not knowing what will happen the next minute is probably a fate as bad as dying, but it has manifested in the form of challenge to food security in the country.
“Many people cannot freely go to their farms and it means that food inflation which has gone over 20 per cent is not a surprise. It means that raw material input into manufacturing would be affected, that means that more people could be laid off from their jobs, where we already have 43 per cent rate of unemployment, and youth unemployment in excess of 45 per cent.”
So, these are really troubling signals, but it’s even much sadder that the security issues are totally preventable, but we allowed ourselves to travel this path. Our politics has been unfortunately not one of deep thinking, one of very short-term orientation, by a majority of political apparatus driven by narcissism, rather than service to Nigerians.”
“We allowed these issues to continue to grow, pretending and deceiving ourselves that they were going to get better, but today these issues have grown to threaten our lives and safety. With the way it is going, we can wake up tomorrow to see that the insurgents have mounted the Boko Haram flag in Aso Rock.”
” All of these things were predicted, but because of corruption, our eyes are blindfolded to these things. We have also unwittingly collaborated in bringing the situation to where we are today. he added
PDP To Commence Zonal Stakeholders’ Consultations
…As NWC Receives Prof. Jerry Gana*
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to commence consultations with critical stakeholders across the six geo-political zones in furtherance of its democratic efforts to rescue our nation from misrule.
The party is also working on templates that will enable it to, within the ambits of laws, further harness suggestions from Nigerians on democratic means to tackle the festering insecurity, guarantee the safety of life and property as well as restore our national stability and cohesiveness.
PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, stated this at the PDP national secretariat on Wednesday, while receiving former Minister of Information and National Orientation and founding National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Jerry Gana, who recently returned to the party.
Prince Secondus stressed that main objective of the PDP is to rescue the nation from misrule adding that it was imperative to tap from the wealth of experience of leaders like Prof. Gana.
“The main objective of the PDP is to rescue our nation from collapse. Our country is threatened and this is not a joke. We are confronted with a guerrilla warfare and the very foundation of our country is being threatened. That is why the PDP is leading the charge in seeking solution to the ugly situation our nation has been plunged into by the All Progressives Congress (APC)”, the National Chairman said.
Stating that the party is glad that Prof. Gana was back to its fold, the National Chairman urged him to deploy his wealth of experience and intellect in the collective quest of well-meaning Nigerians to forge a direction for the nation.
Earlier during the visit, Prof. Gana emphasized that Nigeria “is in a dire strait” adding that all hands must be on the deck to rescue the nation.
According to him, “Nigeria is on the brinks. The economy is stagnated. There is insecurity everywhere. Nigerians are beginning to doubt our nationhood. The political answer to the situation today is for PDP to take back power. Nigerians do not deserve what we are going through today. We must take decisive steps that will help rescue our nation”.
Prof. Gana commended the Prince Secondus-led leadership of the party for its efforts in stabilizing the party adding that he was happy to be back to the fold.
National Publicity Secretary
Account for N10trn security allocation, PDP tells Buhari
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to account for the N10.
The party made the call in a statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary on Tuesday.
It explained that its position is predicated on heightening allegations of diversion of funds meant for security as well as an alert by a pro-transparency organization, BudgIT on the absence of proper audit on the spending of national security funds from 2015 to 2021.
The party asserted that such situation points to why terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent acts had continued to worsen, with widespread complaints of lack of adequate combat equipment for the nation’s security forces, for which gallant soldiers, as well as thousands of compatriots, are paying with their blood under President Buhari and the APC.
The party recalled that the APC administration is yet to come clean on claims by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen Babagana Monguno, that billions of naira meant for security could not be traced.
The party said it is appalled that the APC and its administration have turned the heightened insecurity in the country which it said, was caused by their incompetence, divisiveness and gross mismanagement of the national diversity, into bloody merchandise for APC leaders.
The PDP challenged President Buhari, as the commander-in-chief, to speak out on the alleged diversion of security funds under his command.
The party also called on the two chambers of the National Assembly to immediately commence an investigation into the spending of the N10.02 trillion.
The PDP said it is further alarmed by the clear scheme by the APC and its administration to frustrate the well-intentioned strategies from the PDP to check the tide of terrorism and banditry in our country.
The statement added, “Our party rejects the move by the APC to frustrate the establishment of a National Borders Protection Force as suggested by the PDP to check further infiltration by terrorist elements as well as inflow of illegal arms into our country.”
The PDP insisted that the setting up of a bureaucratic National Center for Control of Small Arms by the APC administration instead of a pro-active and operational Borders Protection Force that will ensure watertight security at our borders further exposes the lack of commitment by the APC to secure our borders and check the inflow of terrorists and ammunition.
The main opposition party asserted that by its outlook and operation, such a center cannot check the infiltration of terrorists as well as the flow of firearms into our country.
The PDP, therefore, rejected the resort to “a sitting room measure in the face of our porous borders and heightened terrorist activities in our country.”
The PDP consequently urged President Buhari to immediately establish the Borders Protection Force which will draw personnel and equipment from the military and other armed services to man the nation’s borders and check activities by terrorists and their backers.
